Arild Heitmann: The Architecture of Winter

  • by Jenny Bahn

When you’re looking for the picturesque epitome of winter, look no further than Norway. Blessed with frigid temperatures, Polar Nights (that’s where the sun doesn’t even bother to show up for a full 24 hours, and can continue for weeks at a time depending on how close to the Arctic Circle you are), and a Northern Light show that puts nearly all other skyward spectacles to shame, Norway overcompensates for the season’s more depressing realities with an unparalleled terrain—something Norwegian photographer Arild Heitmann captures in his dramatic images.
